Nora Unkel is a writer, director, and post production supervisor. She is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where she earned a degree in film and TV production, with minors in music and history. Her debut feature, A NIGHTMARE WAKES (2021, Shudder) was among the top 2% of entrants for The Academy’s Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship Program, one of Slated.com’s top 10 scripts of 2016, pitched at IFP week 2017, the Frontiers Film Market in Montreal and Cannes, as well as the MOME Financing Lab. As a post production supervisor, Nora has worked on several Sundance documentaries including WEINER and NEWTOWN. Nora is a co-founder of Wild Obscura, a production company focused on content by, for, and about women. The company has been awarded Gold at the Student Academy Awards with their short experimental film, OPERA OF CRUELTY, and participated in the French Connection Film Market in Paris with IFP. WO served fellowships at the Made in NY Media Center, in association with IFP and at IFP's Film Narrative Lab with A NIGHTMARE WAKES. WO's debut fiction podcast CRYPTIDS is award winning and currently being distributed by leading podcast company, Rusty Quill.
