3. Identifying and Addressing Toxicity in the Information Security Community
If you've been online lately, you're more than likely to come across abusive remarks, derogatory comments, or people questioning one's credibility or reasoning for being apart of a conversation. From #InfoSecBikini to daily harassment from anonymous accounts online, toxic behavior is nothing new to the information security community. Whether credibility is being questioned, harassment campaigns are targeting (primarily female) security professionals, or the latest security news is causing a stir within the community itself, it's important that we are able to recognize when toxic behavior and actions occur and develop ways to address it. This episode's panel tackles some of the most pressing and challenging topics facing not only the information security industry, but communities as a whole. From racial inequity, diversity, discrimination, and harassment, join in as we shed light on these topics and more and work to identify ways in which we can make changes for the better and make the industry more welcoming, inclusive, and reflect the diversity found in the world around us.
