Equal Under the Law
Will is inherent in our everlasting intelligence. There has never been a point when our life force has not existed. In other words, we have always existed as intelligences just as God has always existed as an intelligence. otherwise, we have the problem of first cause.
God is the highest intelligence of all. There can be no higher intelligence than God for he is omniscient. There can be no higher power than God for he is omnipotent. Some things must self-exist such as the life force, intelligences, and matter and energy. God, our Father, the almighty creator, is an organizer. He organizes intelligences. He organizes laws. He organizes matter and energy into worlds. Only an omniscient and omnipotent being can do that.
There is no first cause to intelligence any more than there is a first cause to matter. Will is inherent in all intelligences. In other words, will self exists. Will is who we are. Will cannot be created, and will cannot be destroyed. Will is associated with desire, power, and action but can only be set free through the laws of God; therefore, because of the laws of God we have free will. Freewill can be manifested in three ways: freedom, agency, and liberty.
· Freedom depends upon natural law.
· Agency depends upon spiritual law.
· Liberty depends upon manmade law.
Natural law (science) and spiritual law (the commandments of God) are both laws of God. They are absolute and inviolate.
Manmade laws are the product of governments and creations of man. For manmade laws to create liberty, they must be in harmony with the natural and the spiritual laws of God.
Therefore, freewill can only be possible under three conditions.
1. Condition one. Man must live in harmony with temporal or natural laws; therefore, he must have a knowledge of science.
2. Condition two. Man must live in harmony with spiritual laws; therefore, he must have a knowledge of the true and everlasting God.
3. Condition three. Man must organize laws of government that are in harmony with both the temporal and the spiritual laws of God, or they will lead to captivity.
All attempts by man to defy the laws of nature or to defy the laws of God will fail and bring man into bondage. All attempts by man to create laws that defy the virtues of God and that encourage disobedience to the laws of God will lead to captivity and will ultimately bring about misery.
The first duty of manmade government should be to guarantee the rights of its citizens to have maximum freewill, freedom, agency, and liberty. Man should have the right to fail as well as the right to succeed.
It is necessary for government to create laws against those who try to restrict the rights of others. Citizens must be protected against all tyranny, even if that tyranny is the government itself. Government should not pass laws that impose one person’s conscience over another even if it is supposedly ‘for the good of the people.’ People must be able to decide upon their own good. Government should protect rights, but not determine conscience. No one should be allowed to impose their conscience on another.
Life must be protected. Property must be protected. And rights must be protected. Citizens must have the right to ‘life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness according to the dictates of their own conscience as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others.
