Patrons Only: Andrea James' Frequently Creepy, Sporadically Stalkery War On Sex Researchers And Journalists She Dislikes, Explained, Because We Hate Ourselves And Our Listeners
Katie and Jesse explain how they have both contracted bad cases of autogynefeelsbadmania, which will require a trip back in time to the naughty aughties.
(CORRECTION, 7/26: Between 31:31 and 31:37 in the original version of this episode, I [meaning Jesse] said, "The Emerson Collective, which is apparently, like, a feminist collective, gave money to The Transphobia Project." This was a brainfart entailing a lot of confusion. The Emerson Collective is a company that has an ownership stake in The Atlantic. Back when Andrea James' Kickstarter launched, I remembered seeing her list the name of some organization as one of her backers. Somehow this got scrambled in my head, resulting in my accidentally false claim that the Emerson Collective supported James' Kickstarter when there is no evidence this is the case. For what it's worth, I checked the list of supporters James posted and there isn't any organization there I recognize. Genuinely unsure what happened and and I apologize! I have reuploaded the episode with that part cut out, and will issue a correction on the podcast itself. Thank you to the person who emailed me alerting me to this error.)
