Andrew Stirling and his family farm in Angus, Scotland and have done ever since Andrew was a young boy. Potatoes have become part of their heritage, and a core part of their farming business – growing, packing, peeling and retail.
It is not just the commercial side of the business they influence, some of Andrew’s fondest memories, and an element he credits with his strong work ethic and commitment to supporting those in need, are linked to lifting potatoes as a child and the local community involvement.
With Scottish Burns’ Night taking place in January and the trusty “mash” as a core ingredient in the dish, we caught up with Andrew to find out more about why they continue to invest in the crop, and how their latest enterprise, Upper Dysart Larder, which supplies mash to retail businesses, has opened more opportunities
