Fire in the Projection Booth

This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, presented by The Prince Charles Cinema, our hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas are back in the cinema recording an episode together for the first time since before the pandemic. To mark the occasion, they are joined by long-time projectionist, Dan Walden.

With the last few weeks spent having a look at cinema-based movies, where some projectionist or showman is making the magic happen for the audience by gimmick or magic ticket, we decided to talk to Dan about his role in making the magic happen for our audiences in real life.

Join us, as we talk the ridiculous amount of film prints Dan and the fellow projectionist have to make up, show, then break down in a given week, overhearing rude comments, projectionist injuries, famous people and whether or not the cinema is haunted... It's a scare!
