Ms. Monroe will present the history of the development of Bowenwork and why this treatment has rapidly expanded globally. Tom Bowen of Geelong, Australia, began exploring the concepts of this approach in the 1950's. For over 30 years, until his passing in 1982, he developed the theory and refined the practice of this hands-on therapy. Within his lifetime, his approach became renowned for dramatically accelerating healing from sports injuries and for stimulating improvement in even intractable conditions.
In 1988, one of Mr. Bowen's students, Oswald Rentsch, taught an experimental class in Perth. News of the remarkable results obtained by even beginning students spread by word of mouth. Interest increased, and the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia was born. Now Bowenwork is taught and practiced in over 35 countries, from the commonwealth nations throughout Europe, into South Africa, Kuwait, India, Malaysia and the Orient.
