Dr. Edwin Krupp is an astronomer, researcher, author, and popularizer of science. He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of archaeoastronomy, the study of how ancient cultures viewed the sky and how those views affected their cultures. He has taught at the college level, as a planetarium lecturer, and in various documentary films. Dr. Krupp has been the director of the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles since first taking over the position in 1974. His writings include science papers and journal articles, astronomy magazine articles, books on astronomy and archaeoastronomy for adults, and books explaining sky phenomena and astronomy to children.
Neville Sinclair, Lothar, Jenny, Eddie Valentine and his gang watch The Rocketeer come in for a landing in the plaza of the Griffith Park Observatory.
As Jenny has never seen more than a glimpse of The Rocketeer before, she realizes what Cliff was trying to tell her earlier about just what this rocket pack can do.
The Rocketeer lands next to the Astronomers’ Monument. He cuts the engine, and walks toward the gangsters holding Jenny hostage. Cliff slowly removes his helmet and faces a gauntlet of Eddie’s boys. Eddie’s gang steps out of Cliff’s way, then fall in behind him with their guns drawn.
At the end of the line of gangster stand Eddie Valentine and Neville Sinclair, with Lothar keeping a firm grip on Jenny behind them.
“Jenny,” asks Cliff, “Are you okay?”
“She’s fine,” interrupts Sinclair.
Cliff glares at Sinclair. “I wasn’t talking to you,” says Cliff.
Sinclair looks at Secord. “Take the rocket off,” orders Sinclair. “Carefully,” he adds.
Cliff looks at Sinclair, and raises the ignition button on her gloved fist. His thumb hovers over the trigger. Sinclair glances at Secord’s thumb.
