In the reading I do in this week's podcast, we come across Pema Chodron's words and her use of the cocoon metaphor in a way I have never encountered. She describes the cocoon as the life we create around ourselves that is safe, predictable, convenient, and trustworthy.
This is not freedom. This is your cocoon preventing a broader, more enriching experience of the full spectrum of life. As Pema puts it, outside of our cocoon "are all the planets and all the galaxies and vast space, but we're stuck here in this cocoon."
