Looking Forward with Michael Bazán
Society & Culture
On today’s show, we’ll talk about equality, racism, and being a strong nation within our borders and not just beyond. We will hear an excerpt of Senator John F. Kennedy’s 1960 acceptance speech at the 1960 Democratic Convention and the entirety of a Kimberly Jones commentary “How Can We Win”. We will discuss Richard Slotkin’s Gunfighter Nation, which examines the Frontier Myth. We will talk about racism and the work of Author and Historian Ibram Kendi and Political Commentator, Political Strategist, and soon to be Author Heather McGhee. We mention Ibram Kendi’s book “Stamped From The Beginning” and Heather McGhee’s Ted Talk “Racism Has A Cost For Everyone”. I also mention cancer and a site that evaluates non-profits on their transparency, accountability, and financial health. I wish a family member well and dedicate the show to three dear friends, who will be sorely missed. If finances are available, please consider giving to a cancer organization and/or the listed GoFundMe.
I invite and welcome everyone on the quest of creating The New Frontier!
