As we continue our series “In Conversation With", speaking to luxury influencers across the industry, we speak to Michael Bonsor. Currently managing director of Rosewood London, Michael looks after the hotel’s 306 rooms and suites, 11 event spaces and 3 restaurants and bars, which include internationally recognised Scarfes Bar and Holborn Dining Room. The hotel has garnered impressive awards under Michael’s management, including Conde Nast Traveller’s Best Hotel in London, GQ’s Best Hotel and Hotel of the Year by The Caterer, to name but a few.
Hospitality is in Michael’s blood. From an early age Michael worked alongside his parents at their hotels in Scotland before venturing to the US to work with Four Seasons & Resorts for 10 years in Boston, Toronto and New York.
On returning to London, Michael began his British career at Claridge’s as the Food & Beverage Manager then becoming the Hotel Manager of this iconic hotel. After four years at Claridge’s, Michael opened Rosewood London, a highly anticipated opening of this ultra-luxury hotel brand. Rosewood London has garnered numerous awards since its opening including Forbes Five Star and Conde Nast Traveller no.1 hotel in London numerous times.
One of the youngest MD’s of a luxury London hotel, Michael has fast become one of the most highly regarded leaders in the industry. As the hospitality sector faces its biggest challenge yet we speak to Michael about life after lockdown and how the sector can adapt and prosper in the wake of lockdown and continued restrictions.
