Moment of Meditation: Forgiven Richly (Ephesians 1:7)
Original Broadcast: Easter 2009
Monthly Theme: Third Article Gifts
In [Christ] we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of sins,
in accordance with the riches of God's grace.
(Ephesians 1:7)
St. Paul reminds the Ephesians that the forgiveness of sins comes from the hand of God. It is out of His "fatherly, divine goodness and mercy" that He gives us all things.
We're reminded of what the psalmist prayed, "If You, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O LORD, who can stand? But with You there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared" (130:3-4).
There is only forgiveness of sins through Jesus' death and resurrection. He paid the price for your sins so that God would count your faith as righteousness in His sight (Genesis 15:6; Romans 4:3). And because God is "abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness" (Psalm 86:15), He richly forgives you all your sins. Thank Him this morning for the richness of His forgiveness. Amen.
