Moment of Meditation: House of Prayer (Matthew 21:12-13)
''And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. He said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you make it a den of robbers." (Matthew 21:12-13)''
Jesus triumphantly enters Jerusalem and heads straight to the Temple. He clears out the Temple because it has gone from being a house of prayer into a den of robbers. Solomon built the Temple so that the Israelites would have a place to praise God and pray to Him. The Temple was the place where God caused His name to dwell among His people.
Instead of being adorned with helpful items for worshipping God, the Temple had become a marketplace. Worship had become big business for the priests. The same happens now with the television preachers. They are more worried about selling their wares and lining their own pockets. Most don't bother with preaching about sin and salvation. They want to preach self-help. Robbing people of their faith. The faith they are supposed to be proclaiming.
What would you rather have? A house of prayer or a den of robbers? Thank your pastor for all they do for your soul. Amen.
