MidWeek - Episode 23 “Ezra & Nehemiah: Identity & Mission”
In this episode, we continue to explore a central theme that runs throughout Ezra-Nehemiah, namely the tension between the distinctive identity of God’s set-apart covenant people and the ways in which God’s people must somehow interact with their surrounding culture and neighbors. Trevor and Jon discuss the ways in which the presence of this tension in the context of the biblical storyline might inform our own contemporary efforts to engage meaningfully with the culture and people around us while maintaining our distinctive identity and mission as followers of Jesus. We also evaluate some of the strengths and weaknesses of possible approaches to navigating this tension within the history of God’s people and within our own day and age.
