Ireland’s failure to get covid certificates ready is “disappointing” and cannot be wholly blamed on the cyber attack – that’s according to a Fianna Fáil MEP. Every other EU country except Ireland got their systems up and running by the 1st July deadline. The EU digital covid certificates allow passengers to show proof of vaccination, a negative test or recovery from coronavirus. Dublin MEP, Barry Andrews, says our travel industry has lost half the summer already and he is not confident the government will be able to stick to its 19th July timetable.
