Charles Alfred “Chief” Anderson A.K.A. the Father of Black Aviation. He was the Chief Flight Instructor for the Tuskegee Airmen, hence his nickname Chief. Here had his fateful run-in with the current First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt in March 1941. By June 1941 Charles was selected to be the Ground Commander & Flight Instructor for the 99th Pursuit Squadron’s cadets.
