Law mini-series: In conversation with Kiera Riddy, Associate Barrister for Browne Jacobson
In our Law mini-series podcast, Rachel Gaunt Employability and Careers Consultant for the Law School, talks to Law sector professionals about their career experiences.
Kiera graduated from the University of Law with an LLB in Law in 2018, then went on to complete her BPTC LLM in 2019 and was called to the bar the same year. Originally from the Southwest she is now working as an Associate Barrister for Browne Jacobson based in Exeter. Hear about the steps to become a Barrister and Kiera’s own personal experiences. This includes what Kiera wishes she’d known before undertaking the journey and her top tips for aspiring Barristers.
Please note, Kiera refers to a requirement for aspiring solicitors who are non-law undergraduates to complete the law conversion course. Since the introduction of the SQE in September 2021 this has changed, technically there isn’t a requirement to do this, however we recommend checking with your shortlisted firms in the first instance. See here for more information: GDL and SQE What's going on with conversion courses
