People & Leadership: The **Other** P&L
Business:Management
Mental health has been a sensitive topic to discuss at work. Employment laws in the US direct us to not discuss an individual’s mental health in the workplace in order to protect the company from inadvertently discriminating or otherwise impacting folks on the basis of a disability. With more and more mental health issues developing from recent societal challenges, and more people needing support in these areas, how do we handle these important conversations now?
Our topic for today is about the importance of talking about mental health at work. Julie and Aura discuss the current landscape, the limitations of employment law and the training needed for managers and leaders to have these conversations. Julie spoke about her experience working as an HR Executive and shared her own experience with burnout and how that changed her view of this issue. Hear Julie and Aura’s insights and discover important learnings you can apply in your own organization. This recording was from one of the live Clubhouse sessions during the pandemic.
