16_Scrolling through society: Insights from a social media researcher - Dr. Ciera Kirkpatrick
On today’s episode we are having a conversation with media scholar, Dr. Ciera Kirkpatrick. Ciera is an assistant professor of advertising and public relations at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. She earned her BA in Integrated Marketing Communication and her MA in Communication, both from Wichita State. She went on to receive her PHD in Strategic Health Communication from the University of Missouri.
Her research is focused on how messaging in the media affects our mental and physical health and how we, as communicators, can design messages to improve both individual and community health outcomes.
Ciera has worked on research funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and has presented her research at national and international conferences including the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) conference, the International Public Relations Research Conference (IPRRC) and the International Communication Association (ICA) conference. Her research has also been published in Health Communication, Communication Reports, and Review of General Psychology.
