WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR OCTOBER 22, 2023
- No big surprises occurred during the weekend
- Rain fell significantly in portions of Argentina easing long term dryness
- Brazil’s center west will remain dry early this week, but will see some increasing showers late this week and next week
- Center west rainfall will be greatest in November not over the next 10 days
- Argentina rainfall will lighten up and become infrequent and lighter later this week and next week
- Western Australia is still going to be dry
- Northern parts of Russia’s Southern Region, northern Ukraine and northwestern Kazakhstan received rain during the weekend and more is coming
- Snow will accumulate in southern Canada’s Prairies and the northern U.S. Plains this week ahead of unusually cold air
- U.S. hard red winter wheat areas will get rain early to mid-week this week with snow in the northwest late this week and into the weekend
- Additional rain is expected next week
- The changes will improve winter crop establishment potentials
- Mississippi River Basin and a part of the lower Missouri River Basin will see relief from low water levels, although much more rain will be needed to remove draught restrictions
- Western Europe storminess will continue through the next ten days with rain eventually reaching into northeastern Europe leaving the Balkan Countries drier than usual
