EPISODE 4: Supporting International Medical Graduates in Canada- lessons learned from fellowship safaris
For our fourth episode we are fortunate to have Dr. Njeri Karianjahi as our guest. Dr. Karianjahi is an Adolescent medicine specialist and consultant pediatrician in Nairobi Kenya. She received an adolescent health and well-being graduate diploma from the university of Melbourne and subsequently completed an Adolescent Medicine fellowship at the University of Toronto. Her experiences coming to Canada from Kenya for fellowship served as a catalyst for the creating of an inspiring podcast called ‘Fellowship Safaris,’ which explores the stories of medics of color and their subspecialty training experiences. She has also recently published on her fellowship experience in the Journal of Adolescent Health. We are grateful that Dr. Karianjahi joined us to share her stories and lessons learned from the many incredible guests that she has interviewed for her podcast on how we can best support IMGs and learners coming to Canada from developing countries in their training experiences.
