Episode 7 - Pastor Paul Tautges, Author of Remade: Embracing Your Complete Identity in Christ
Episode #7 Show Notes
Host: Dr. Warren Lamb
Guest: Pastor Paul Tautges
Topic: “Remade: Embracing Your Complete Identity in Christ”
Summary
In this episode of The Soul Care Podcast, host Warren Lamb interviews Paul Tautges, a respected voice in the world of biblical counseling and soul care. They discuss Tautges' new book, "Remade: Experiencing Your Complete Identity in Christ," which explores the importance of identity in Christ and offers a refreshing perspective on finding one's identity in relationship with Jesus rather than external circumstances or accomplishments. The book is divided into three lenses: the sinner lens, the saint lens, and the sufferer lens, each providing a unique perspective on our identity in Christ. Tautges also shares the metaphor of kintsugi, an ancient Japanese art form that repairs broken pottery with gold, symbolizing God's redemptive work in our brokenness.
It is an honor to speak with a man whose contributions to the Christian faith, especially in the realm of biblical counseling and soul care, are so extensive. He has been in gospel ministry for over 30 years and serves as one of the pastors of Cornerstone Community Church in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, which is in the Cleveland area. He is also an adjunct professor at Masters University in California, a certified biblical counselor and teaching fellow for the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, and a council board member of the Biblical Counseling Coalition. He also serves as editor for the popular LifeLine mini-book series from Shepherd Press and blogs regularly at Counseling One Another, the Biblical Counseling Coalition, and Crosswalk.
Ask him about himself, and he puts it simply: “By God’s grace, I’m a husband, dad, grandpa, and pastor at Cornerstone Community Church in Mayfield Heights, OH. I love Christ because He first loved me.”
Humble, friendly, and approachable, he has written or edited over 60 books and mini-books, including “A Small Book for the Hurting Heart,” the 31-day devotional “Anxiety: Knowing God’s Peace;” then there is “Counseling One Another,” a mainstay in the biblical counseling and soul care world, and, of course, his newest work, “Remade: Embracing Your Complete Identity in Christ.”
