Horse Racing.
It's a controversial subject amongst horse lovers and everywhere. As the most public horse sport, it's naturally under a lot of scrutiny--as all horse sports should be. But in recent years, there has been a lot of call for the entire racing industry to close its doors for good, which begs the question:
Does horse racing need to be shut down entirely? Or are there practical shifts that we can make to better the lives and safety of these young horses?
In part 1 of this 2-part series, we sit down with Shelby Dennis, a LIMA-based positive reinforcement trainer and Certified Equine Behavior Consultant, and former racehorse exercise rider, to discuss the issues plaguing the racing world in hopes of discovering a way to move forward towards a more ethical future for all horses.
