Meet Melissa: Melissa is a first-year master's student in Nutritional Sciences, she was born and raised in Mexico where she completed her bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Wellness at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She is currently a research assistant in the department of Nutritional Sciences at TCU, with a special focus on the gut microbiota and interests stretching across gastrointestinal diseases, the gut-brain axis, nutritional genomics, and obesity. Beyond academia, she enjoys hiking, cooking, listening to music, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
