Dr Shawn P. Tierney DC, RMSK, is a musculoskeletal sonologist and leader in the regenerative medicine field. He has a pioneer certificate from the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine for the initial RMSK certification. He is an internationally recognized teacher of musculoskeletal ultrasound and human sono-anatomy. He has taught over 70 ultrasound cadaver courses and 30 diagnostic hands-on courses with MSKUS. He has taught as a recognized expert in Taiwan, Australia, Tasmania, Hong Kong, Mexico, Canada and in the United States. He is honored to have taught at Naval and Marine Bases as well as having taught VA physicians to perform stellate ganglion blocks. He has taught at the American Academy of Orthopedic Medicine and the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Tierney has done extensive work in sports medicine rehabilitation and nutrition during his entire career. Dr. Tierney received his degree from The Los Angeles College of Chiropractic where he was student body president. Prior to studying Chiropractic, Dr. Tierney was an environmental organic chemist at APPL Labs in California. Dr. Tierney was a personal trainer in 1988 and was ranked 3rd nationally as a natural body builder, having competed in 19 different bodybuilding competitions. Dr. Tierney also won his age group in the top International Stand-Up Paddle Competition (The Pacific Paddle Games) twice. Dr. Tierney has treated members of the US Water Polo Team, the US Swim Team, the NBA, the NFL, the NHL, Professional Surfing, Professional Boxing, Professional UFC, Martial Arts, Professional Skateboarding, Professional Golfing, Olympic Volleyball, Professional Bodybuilding, Professional Dancers, Movie Stars, Professional Musicians, and most significantly Professional Stand-Up Paddle Board Athletes.
