This time around, our guest is Malcolm Shabazz Hoover, community organizer and author of 144: ONE HUNDRED FORTY-FOUR POEMS AND ESSAYS FOR GOD, LOVE, TRUTH, JUSTICE, PEACE, AND HIP HOP. Malcolm is in the early stages of planning and preparing for Malcolm's American Ride. In his own words:
For a few years I've been watching the tide of racism rise in the United States. Racism is part of the founding consciousness of our country, and too many of us have no tools to deal with it. It's a dangerous, deadly cancer that has to be dealt with. We want to talk about it, but we don't know how so what happens is we stumble around hurting each other with our words. We want to make it better, but we don't know how. We don't have enough common language or tools to discuss these things. Some of us have been talking about these things for literally 400 years, others just started to think about it this year. We want everyone at the table to have what will be honest, hard discussions.
I love people, I love to travel and I love motorcycles. I thought "How cool would it be to build a bike, jump on it, ride the country and get people talking?" Not only will we gather and talk, where we can, we'll do projects together. Hell yeah.
Malcolm comes on to talk to us about social justice, riding motorcycles, and just trying to do some good in the world between people. You can follow his efforts:
