#1- Big Brother is making it harder and harder for you to get your ass an assets out of dodge:

Today we have an amazing “boots on the ground” story of just how bad it can get and what kind of wringer the bureaucrats can put you through if they have a mind to(we’re assuming they have minds). Worse yet, this example comes from those so-called ‘terminally nice folks” up there in Canada.

This time we have two separate, “boots on the ground” robbery stories dealing with gringos and expats who should have known better. But as you will see, most all of us arrive in Latin America starry-eyed and clueless. We arrive as vulnerable and easy marks, especially when we land in highly gringoized areas. Though funny enough, sometimes being robbed is one of the best lessons a newbee expat can learn… as long as the crooks don’t get too much.
