Interview Matt Carthy on Unfair Trading Practices

Eamonn Torsney talks to the Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy about the vote in the European Parliament last week on unfair trading practices.

The Parliament’s Agriculture Committee approved new draft rules to better protect farmers against buyers’ unfair trading practices.

The Ag Committee voted for a number of proposals including stoping late payments and short notice cancellation of orders. And they want food producers to have the right to request a written supply contract.

However, Matt Carthy has criticised the proposals saying they aren't ambitious enough and that he voted against the report.
