Eamonn Torsney talks to the Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy about German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s address to the European Parliament last Tuesday.
During her speech on the future of Europe last Tuesday, Mrs Merkel told MEPs that establishing a real European army, as an addition to NATO, “would show the world that there will never be war again between European countries”.
Matt Carthy says her sentiments reflect a wider EU agenda. And in the interview he says Merkel won’t be missed when she steps down from politics in 2021.
