I wasn’t going to comment until I heard one too many remarks that could’ve been fact checked with a quick Google search, and I worry about people who haven’t seen or experienced much of heathenry beyond ”Vikings” being misinformed and spreading misunderstanding within our communities.
While poking your head into and looking at other traditions is a very wonderful thing, maybe watching a few videos from The Norse Witch or Ocean Keltoi would have given a more solid and thorough understanding of Norse Paganism for this podcasg, because as this episode stands, it is rather misinformed or ill-informed. I say this with love and out of knowing that listening for WS dog whistles is very important in heathenry, and a lot of people get info from reconstruction etc.
I mean this as constructive feedback, but as a practitioner of heathenry, I think this episode would have benefited from a bit more research. I’m not going to knock any pronunciations, my religion has a lot of letters in our words, but it’s very common knowledge that Freyr is a Vanir God, twin of Freya. It is also very important to stress that the term ”Odinism” has not, as far as I am aware, *ever* been used in a non-white supremacist context in the US.
love you gals!
Just found your podcast...I love it! Please keep inspiring!
I love that you referred to Idaho, I’m that poor witch in Idaho that is mostly in the closet because people think witchcraft is the devil :-/
love your show
