I’m always looking forward to hear your series, I’m learning new things and get a much wider perspective at a age of 70. At the end can you make an illustration with the connection between the characters? It would be interesting to see the connection to today’s power grabbers. Thanks again for investing your time and energy to share the history.

I love hearing about this, reminds me of what’s going on now. One complaint the background music is to loud

Wow....never has the warning, ”those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it” rang so alarming true!

What a fantastic series! I am starting on the next one and I am finding it be equally good, dare I say better? I really appreciate the hopeful tone at the end that says those who know history have tools to stand up to people that want to dominate and have power beyond all else. We know we can do something positive and not give up in the face of these radical and cruel people. We are not victims. We are a force to be reconned with. Thank you Rachel, for who you are and all you do.

Ms. Maddow is single-handedly keeping this information alive so we all can believe in our fellow man to keep us from falling back into the same trap. Spectacular series!

I always wondered how a crazy like 45 could get so much power so fast. Scary.

Thank you, Rachel for your intensive research, production team’s professionalism, and presentation skills. Your ability to create a nexus between the historical events of the fascist actors promulgating pro- plans with the current cabal of authoritarian wannabes is critical. it’s powerful in illuminating the intentions and objectives of Trump and his acolytes as they attempt to usurp power in every segment of government and turn the democratic tenets of the United States’ Constitution into a tyrannical, despotic sovereignty. We cannot live under a fascistic dictatorship, which is why your productions of ”Ultra” and ”Ultra 2” are so salient and important.

Has there ever been a time that Democrats or extreme left wing have done anything so diabolical?

21 days ago reply 1

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but God this rings familiar. Where have I heard this plot, this story line before. 🤔 I never heard of this piece of history , but yet I feel I’ve lived through something close to it. The Trumpets are sounding in my head, where have I heard this before? Oh well, it’ll come to me soon enough. Excellence beyond measure!

Interesting story about well connected historical right wing extremists. Enlightening to hear about, become aware of, and to make comparisons to today’s politics. 5 stars for importance! But 2 stars for pod playing issues. Episode 6 had an audio repeat in the first couple minutes. Also In my pod app when 1 episode completed, it reoeatedly jumped to a past episode instead of stepping to the next episode. Thanks Rachel, for bringing this important info to light!

Thank You! The saying ”Old sins have long shadows” has never been more truer. Kudos to MSNBC, Rachel Maddow and the wonderful team who helped shine a light down the dark hidden tunnels of history. We see where the threads were drawn from and incorporated in the tapestry of the present movement of #PutinsUsefulIdiots not only in the US but around the world. Democracy and voting for Legislators of goodwill is the only remedy to cure a malignant cancer of Hatred and Prejudice in all its forms.

The gentleman who comments at the 52:12 mark is 100%. As a country, we’vee never called out the dangers of far right-wing extremism. The cloak their extremism in the Bill of Rights which makes condemning them for having extremists views, for example, as ”political speech protected by the 1st Amendment,” which saying ”you can’t scream ’fire’ in a crowded room.” We allow them to use ”armed protests” as ”freedom of speech. We allow political speech to be entangled with ”politicking from the pulpit.

I listened to the entire storied podcast before commenting. EXCELLENT RE-TELLING of a long forgotten moment in American history. After listening to the podcast in its entirety, I understand why you did this: ”Those who can not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” – George Santayana. America is presently at that turning point w/Christian White Nationalism no longer hiding in the shadows, but instead is very pervasive within Congress, the military, local law enforcement, big corporate exec. offices, corporate lobby groups, and PACs. If WE, THE PEOPLE don’t wise up and see the danger to not just democracy but the country as a whole, America will be changed forever in ways that are frighteningly imaginable (i.e., fascism w/a copy-cat format on Muslim extremism).
