Ok, so Ukraine was about to invade Russia. Also Ukraine is not respecting the people’s republics of Donbas and Krimea. Russia would never invade Europe and they never have. The America lies and Russia is speaking the truth. I suggest Mr. Stone moves to Russia, lives there, continues his work as a filmmaker, gets paid there, reads newspapers there, watches TV there, raises his kids there, has his sons join the Russian military and goes to hospital there when he’s ill. Wow is he deluded.
Great Interview! Only the idea that life can’t be a simulation as the brain is extremely parallel and structurally different from transistors is not convincing at all. Why shouldn’t it be doable to simulate parallel, slow wetware in super fast silicone?
Consciousness, the useful platform that integrates past experiences, present feelings and cognition in order to imagine your avatar in the future. You’re telling your story so you can imagine your future. It’s obvious how this helps you to survive, especially in a very complex social environment. So consciousness is forged and held up by evolution. But why does it feel like something to be someone? That is just nature’s way to blend cognition with emotion.

i had to finally stop when the conversation started to be about baseball. it is sad when philosophers have to argue about baseball rules to illustrate their points about moral responsibility and retributivism. the cheating husband example was also simplistic. please discuss real matters
