Statistics like ”90% of all new energy projects are renewables” are meaningless. People are being fooled into believing we’re actually making progress. What was the capacity created? How many megawatts does that represent? And how many megawatts need to be put in place to replace current fossil fuel plants? Getting to ’net zero’ is not good enough, even if that was a feasible goal at this point. We need to reduce CO2 levels by actively pulling it out of the atmosphere. That requires energy too.

It should be noted, since the press largely ignores it, that China is achieving their energy transition by including massive amounts of new nuclear energy. Nothing wrong with wind and solar, but you have to have nuclear to be successful at this.
