This was a great story, heard through a wonderful voice.

Much of the way George Takei’s family was treated was indeed atrocious. However, I must be missing something. I understand why his parents would answer ’no’ to the first question re: fighting, but cannot understand why they felt that they could not answer ’yes’ to the second question on loyalty to the US. Such an answer was obviously going to lead to them being treated as potential traitors (even though they clearly weren’t). Unfortunately the (otherwise excellent) podcast just glosses over this
