Thank you, Chris,for mentioning the impact of single parent families. I was raised by a single mum a,d it left me exposed to the traumas that caused me to NEED to see therapists in the first place. I was pregnant as a teen and became a single mum myself. I had no skills for how to vet a partner and tried to get approval from males by giving them my body - something I learned in the abuse I suffered. Had there been a strong, healthy father in my life, I know things would have been better.

A good therapist will help a client learn tools to handle their feelings, not simply ruminate on their feelings. I believe that Abigail has allowed affirmative transgender therapy care to affect the way she is viewing this issue. I agree that children need to be protected from affirmative care, of course. But a good practice is teaching all people how to manage themselves. In Australia, our emotional regulation techniques used in schools INCUDES positive emotions AS WELL as negative.

I love the pushback that Chris gave about therapy. I was in therapy as a child due to serious abuse and neglect. I needed that space where I could talk safely and freely.
