https://insights.weareams.com/post/102jwkd/dei-vs-merit-based-hiring-are-they-really-at-odds Consider the argument in this article. Is the backlash against DEI from folks who are wary of ceding their privilege in the top groups? I don’t think anyone has ever said to not consider ability. Maybe it hasn’t been articulated well enough, but, to me, DEI just means that we shouldn’t always pick the white, straight, guys.
Laughing that you guys think the orange moron is thinking all this up. He is a useful idiot.
Challenging to listen to recently. Not sure entirely why, but I think the recent response to the initial presentation of walz by the moderator as being (summarized) too close to the right-wing narrative encapsulates the my impression of the podcast as of late. It’s conservatives trying to be moderate by self-moderating. The biased initial frame of reference was called out in this instance, but that’s not always the case. I don’t remember this being an issue in 2022-23
The current inflation is not purely monetary. The post COVID demand surge along with residual supply issues play a role. The engineering company I work for is still dealing with some supply chain issues.
Price increases are more transparent than selling fewer items in the same size bag. I think it’s the smoke and mirrors aspect that galls people. After all, companies don’t hesitate to put wording on their bag when more items are included at a lower price per ounce.
Don’t forget the value in not mentioning Trump by name is its affect on him as a narcissist. It surely gets under his skin.
Enjoyed this 2-part show. As a former fundamentalist Christian in the 1980s, I saw the misuse of Christianity even then as a teenager. Yet the rest of my family did not and still cannot. As a student at Jerry Falwell Sr.’s Liberty University, I experienced the use of students as pawns for Rev. Falwell’s reactionary politics. I consider myself a practical Christian - not in the name of theology but in application. Thomas Jefferson’s abbreviated Bible is my guidebook for living as a decent person.
keep up the good work I just saw the entire documentary on the Lincoln project heartbreaking it started out so well and ended up just guys after money so disappointing. so I will be following you all to see how you do and getting attention on the 2024 election and stomping Trump who is truly the worst threat to our democracy in the history of this country. hang in there
Excellent interview, I can’t wait to read the book. Thank you both for being so vulnerable and honest in your life stories. It helps so many of us make sense of what we’ve endured.
Just keep on with the fear mongering.......
They gonna act like white people are the only ones doing “hate crimes” most of those college “hate crimes” are the “victim” doing it themselves to get attention
My brother was at the 1st Columbia SC re-candidate speech. He called me and told me to Google Pete. I was hooked from that day. ”Before it was cool” 🐝 💙 I had the opportunity to meet Pete in Norfolk, VA at a fundraising event. What a thrill. He is the only candidate for whomever I had ever campaigned. Great podcast!💙
great analysis from former govt staffers.
Love the show. I totally agree, the Hispanic vote is not a guarantee we’re not a monolith. That stated, there are indeed times when communities of Latin’s do operate as a monolith. In California, there is a huge push away from the Democratic Party in large part due to Kamala’s refusal to visit the border. Add a series of very insensitive comments meant as retorts to reporters by her. Yes, She did eventually make it there in June but a lot of latins won’t be voting for Biden/Harris ticket.
Lol. BLM/Antifa terrorized burned down businesses and apartments in summer 2020 right before election time and it wasn’t coordinated?? Y’all just want to ignore that
