An investigation into the subject matter, the origins and ongoing beliefs of the superstition would work for me. The stories ditract fron that and lesson the content.

I'm interested in superstitious but these made up stories are not very good. I also don't like the narrator too superior sounding for my tastes.

This would be so much better if they talked about actual history rather than made up stories.
