A final thought. Intelligence in my opinion is the gathering, storage, retrieval and dissemination of data and very different from sentience. If we’re really concerned about the performance of AI, there’s an old saying regarding data input. Garbage in equals garbage out. If we’re concerned about the performance of our AI it’s my opinion we should take a very close very hard look at the sort of data we are generating as a species.
I’m calling BS for two reasons. First, The questions and tasks being asked of the AI don’t require an opinion. Entities that think have an opinion. Ask the AI something that requires an opinion and see what happens. Second, given humanities track record of reaction when encountering something for the first time I don’t believe an artificial intelligence would be so casual about revealing itself.
It’s not an unusual thing for people to not consider the prospective of others. For instance, the story about the dad and his son. The dad probably thought ”I provide you with a home, food, stuff from my work and you think you might give me some of the money from the suit! Go to your room and think about what you just said to me.”
