I am in EMDR at 50. Wish I would have found sooner. I hope to use my experience to prevent others from spending too much time of their life with terrible memories and feelings.
I hope Charles 505 simply tries on session of RTM before while he still has some hope. I suffered from violent dreams flashbacks intrusive thoughts for three years and went through all kinds of therapies all of the traditional ones RTM is amazing because it does not require you to relive The trauma like all the other treatments do. In six hours of RTM protocol I had a complete remission of post Trumatic stress symptoms something three years of traditional therapies could never achieve. Will any of us ever be “fully recovered“ absolutely not, it is a part of our life experience but we don’t have to have the pain the anger sadness fear guilt and the hurt weighing us down every day those things can be lifted and completely and filed away in our subconscious mind and resolved. RTM is a paradigm crusher when it comes to post Trumatic stress injury
Like your guest, I too wore both uniforms (law enforcement and military). I've been dealing with a PTSD & major depressive disorder diagnosis since 2014. Despite investing literally thousands of hours in treatment, which included 43 days of inpatient treatment at the VA, I am better in many ways but worse in others. I like the concept of injury versus disorder, but there are injuries that some people do not ever recover from, and while I have not lost hope, it does not appear that full recovery for me is very likely. The term injury should replace disorder, but for some of us it's just semantics--it's not really going to make much difference one way or the other. Having said that, I think it could benefit others in the future by reshaping how the public views this condition.
amazing podcast. I am a long term survivor of the complexities of traumatic stress and recovery has eluded me and those I love for so long.
