I love Joe Biden. He is an inspiration.
The discussion on climate change is right on. Here’s the thing though. Wind and solar don’t provide the steady baseload power that coal does. Realistically, the best option to replace coal is nuclear, and there are several modern reactor designs that address safety and waste issues. I am a lefty treehugger! Really! It’s never too late for new nuclear, but it is too late to avoid climate disasters just by reducing emissions. At this point, solar geoengineering deserves serious attention.
It’s so tiring when media figures blame social media and the internet for destroying truth. You might as well blame the printing press. You might as well blame language itself. The reality is that lies and propaganda have always been with us. Propaganda is successful because a lot of people _want_ to believe it. The form it takes and the vehicle that delivers it aren’t important.
I felt early on that Biden needed to groom someone new to run in 2024. Kamala wasn’t getting any traction and I felt Kamala could accept a supreme court nomination or something else attractive. Biden could install a Pete buttigieg or Gavin newson to position them for 2024. Now it is really too late. Suck it up, buttercup. Biden is the guy.
I’m old and not very mobile. I live in a reli I do troll my local rep and others on their social media. When I started, most of the comments were fawning thank yous for being my rep, etc. I found that calling them out on their Republican talking points, caused other people to join the conversation. I have been pleasantly surprised that some of the more rabid comments have actually started to engage in a reality based conversation. It’s not a lot, but I think every little bit of truth helps.
If the Roberts court wanted to make things fair and equal, then they should have ruled that pre-clearance applies to _all_ states, not just the southern ones with a history of racial voter suppression. Instead they threw the whole idea out.
