Sounds like Ben and Daniel were correct for the original theory, but the original theory was flawed. Good job guys. Also! I adore Hedvig. Listening to her cackle over statistical inquiry was a breath of fresh air.

If I remember correctly, BL and GL(Girl Love) started as ways to get around censors, but now are just generally understood terms for them.

One of my favorite reasons for First Nations peoples using American Indian as a term is that it’s a treaty term. They been screwed by overt and covert means, and I just appreciate the reasoning and historical honesty. Personally I’ve been using First Nations peoples, without hyphens, because it acknowledges that we are discussing a non-homogeneous group of people.

I just want to listen to a podcast about linguistics. Why does every linguistics podcast have to talk about political issues from an unabashedly biased perspective? Why are you talking about Fox News, racial tensions, and the transgender debate? You’re not even trying to make it about linguistics. This is just a left-leaning academic echo chamber
