Hello Gyles and Harriet, Wayne Sleep , has to be the most heart warming, episode, I smiled with delight, it has to be the best ,I hung on every word . Well done ,I will listen to it a second time Debbie (Ireland)☘️
What a fascinating conversation and you are a charming interviewer. You always have the most interesting guests (with no obvious hard sell plugging going on). I cannot wait for new episodes.
Best podcast l have found todate.
Really interesting & heart warming. What a lovely, genuine person. 🙂
Such a lovely person and I was completely fascinated by everything she had to say. You pick some great people to interview, Gyles!
Hi Brandreth, I am a bit younger than you, but also went to a private boarding school at around 10. Amazing times. Really enjoy your diaries as they are so similar! What a wise discipline! We used to have run the boards early every Friday am. Hated it, but many of us went on to run the Comrades Marathon, including me. Schooling really does form your future. The interview with Pam Ayres was quite an eye-opener as regards how she and her siblings had to live when they were young. Yet, as she says, it’s how most people lived then round about, and, being just 4 years younger than Pam, I remember all too well the outside toilet and the wash-house. Her mother sounded wonderful, but how strong she must have been. This was so entertaining and Giles really does ask all the right questions - and raises quite a few laughs interspersed among the serious stuff!
I loved this, being a life long fan of Stephen Fry . One of my deepest regrets was having seen him in a play, The Common Pursuit’ at Watford Palace theatre prior to a West End run. Afterwards, Stephen and other cast members were having a drink at the bar in the green room. My friend and I approached to ask for an autograph. Stephen lent forward and asked if we would like a drink. Like an idiot and so overcome by being spoken to by my idol I said ’No thank you’, and scurried away.
Love your chats with your famous friends. Absolutely joyous and uplifting.
Wonderful & interesting
