The ’they’ll do different stuff in power’ idea only survives until the GE manifesto is published. Whatever it says in there IS what they will try to do, unforeseen circumstances aside. They have to, because that’s basically the offer on which they hope to be elected. It’s ’the will of the people’ thing. If you get in, it is deemed to be due to what the manifesto said. Not on some nudge, wink people *think* you meant.
