Listening to him think up jobs for philosophers is like Shakespeare using Hamlet to argue that writers can be judges of truth

You’re 100% right about 2008 being the real shift from broken dreams to broken faith in the system. 2016 Trump was just the first breakthrough message to the elite that something was wrong. I was really excited when he won, thought we finally had a pro-labor president. Then it got a bit too crazy and I voted the other way, but have since regretted being stuck in the farce of the old, inept regime of meaningless platitudes papering over real economic problems which are at best ignored.

I think you’re right about people wanting simple answers. Also right about the feeling that the insiders are working against us, trying to isolate us culturally and economically while destroying our communities. The wealth gap is a large part of this, not because people are communist or something but because people feel that a solid middle-class life to a comfortable retirement should be reachable through hard work in a career - one in which you can have some input and pride into your work.

Interesting take. My problem with the Global Warming narrative has long been the purported solutions, not the science behind it. Cap and trade is easy money for the corrupt, that‘s why they use it rather than a fairer, business friendly carbon tax. Converting to 100% electric cars, using only wind and solar, outsourcing oil and commodity production to 3rd world countries - none of that helps. We need a scientific approach.

I really enjoyed this discussion, you mention a lot of the frustrations I have about our system and how it works against us. I am optimistic that we can start to fix things, but not until the aging boomers on both sides of the aisle are booted from their perches and replaced by generations who understand the downsides of just-in-time inventory, monopolization, and the ruthless globalization of the labor market.

The show was nothing but the usual anti China propoganda Why not the role of certain interests in the US who are lying and vilifying China You need to discuss the decline of US hegemony economically and the current psychopathic attempt to continue military hegomony in order to maintain overall hegomony This aggressive stance by the US government could led to the destruction of humankind

About children Trauma, I’d recommend The Body Keeps The Score, by Bessel Van Der Kolk. They do describe many studies in which Trust is developed during early childhood and the loving caregiver-child relationship. Concepts such as attunement become critical. Highly recommendable book :)

We are concerned with the economic and political inequality that have divided America and we are anxious to re-unite. That answer may lies within. Let’s reflect why we Americans have become so self-righteous and careless of common good, and let’s see it’s we ourselves who have failed to invest/educatourselves and we wreaked havoc. My hope is, through providing fair opportunity and competition to our system, new wealth can be created and shared more equally across race, gender and religion.
