I mean it‘s probably both. That‘s pretty much how feminism became dominant in the west as well.
The notion that Dyatlov has already given up on The World because he already knows that he is responsible for the negligent homicide of his own son cause his character, his attitude and his actions to suddenly make far more sense — the problem is, I can understand why that subplot needed to be removed, because showing it would create the false-impression that nuclear mishaps and fatal radiation leaks were CONSTANTLY occurring all over the Soviet Union all the time (which clearly wasn’t the case), when in fact they were just happening repeatedly whenever Dyatlov was in a position of authority.... but that won’t be obvious to the audience. It would get kind of cartoonish, and it only would take the appearance of Blinky The 3-Eyed Fish to turn it into a string of jokes about Springfield’s Nuclear Power Station under Mr. Burns and Smithers.
This production should be made available to a much wider audience, not just HBO subscribers.
Excellent show! But, all this Misinformation about the Glorious Soviet Union and how a RBMK-1000 can not explode! Russian TV reported that the CIA might have caused the Reactor to fail!
Episode 1 - Craig says that only the Soviets would have put themselves in such danger of illness and cancer and shortened lifespans while Americans would rope it off and stand back... I would like to draw his attention to the hearings in Congress on benefits for first responders to 9/11.

I thought the propensity for Russian doctors and scientists being women was a result of so many men dying in the earlier wars rather than any sort of social progressiveness. Sort of a necessary side effect instead of equality or social progression.
