Thank you both. I had a very similar journey reading this book when I was younger and struggled to grasp it. 35 years on and having had more life experience in some of the things that the book addresses, this episode has reignited the gumption that I’d lost somewhere back there.

TR;DL hypercapitalism killed kindness. Well, of course. Sociopaths do very well in authority positions like CEOs. From our earliest beginnings all we are modeled is that our worth is measured by how much we can produce.

Great pod, so much truth. Half the blokes I know have at least at some point considered topping themselves because the modern world considers them toxic and useless. That they’ve soldiered on proves the lie. Highly recommend this podcast.
I am impressed you can read The road once year. It’s nothing against you or the book. I thought it was an amazing read. I feel like it dipped into despair on a whole another level for me. That it is why it’s hard for me to read it again. Which why I think it is an amazing book at the same time. I do not think I will ever see the movie. I will be adding on the authors other books to my reading this year though
