That would mean Ford wasn't lying about Bernard hurting someone, as he wouldn't have known.

What if Bernard is doing Arnold's work, that Ford doesn't know about? What if Ford doesn't know about Elsie being taken, and Bernard remembers hurting Elsie because he's doing Arnold's work? Kind of like a double-agent?

The picture seems like it was discarded by a visitor.

I feel like you're missing a huge metaphor. The reason the picture of time square caused the glitch was because these androids think they are human and live in the old west. They have no knowledge of any other world. It is a metaphor for our own current situation of living in a simulation.
