I wouldn't be surprised if it is a recorded backing track with vocals actually live. Take a look at the 2003 Special Olympics of One. 3.23 over head shot of Larry. He's not hit the cymbal but there is the sound, also hits the cymbal and no sound. Could be part of the orchestra playing but the drums aren't even miced up. Additionally the tambourine is heard but they have used backing click with shaker or tambourine for years.

Hi. I hope I am. But the just watching the video there is a certain spot just before the second streets chorus where Adams hand clearly does not match what he’s playing. I will be posting the video clip on our Instagram if you want to see it. If you have something that proves otherwise, I would love to be proven wrong.
