In the short stories, Miss Marple is at an event, taking place in the evening, so she would be dressed for dinner, as would many people of this class at this time. No tweed! Also, she would probably have dressed in a way more similar to her youth at this kind of event.

I love this podcast. I’ve listened to every episode multiple times. The careful analysis, the banter between the hosts, the affection for the works of Agatha Christie, and the honest acknowledgement of the issues with the texts make this podcast a pleasure.

I really hope you see this comment cause I had to stop the podcast to find the name of the story you couldn’t remember. There is a Marple short story where the maid did it, and it’s Miss Marple Tells a Story. I remember it becaise the motive for murder in that one really stuck with me. Anyway back to the amazing episode.

I have this on Audible but never got past the Africa chapters. It was just so English of its time. (as a Scottish woman!) but I might go back and try again now I have your view on it.

Great podcast, good discussion. I think the BBC adaptation of A Caribbean Mystery is the best.

Love this podcast, love the time they spend on each book or short story, love the journey as they discuss, love the framework they have given me to low-key analyse Agatha. 5 stars.
