In a weird way, Pat was inferring that the refs have dictated how the game has evolved, from very physical to more ”fluid”. I’m not saying that one way is better than the other, some still think that high basketball shoes prevent injuries, but ... we all want to watch a competitive game and IMHO the inconsistency of refereeing is a big issue
